Where a photographer asked for attribution, it's here and in the caption. If you took one of these and want the credit fixed or the picture taken down, call the number on any page and it gets corrected or comes down the same business day. If a caption puts a house in the wrong town, same thing.
How a photo gets picked. It has to show the actual place the page is about: a twin on a real Drexel Hill block, the trolley at a real stop, a stone single in Wallingford. It has to carry a licence that allows commercial use, with the licence and the photographer's name recorded before it goes up. And it has to be a picture of houses, streets and buildings, never of people. Anything that fails one of those three stays on Commons.
What gets done to a photo after it's picked: it gets made bigger and sharper, so it still looks like something at the width it runs. That's all. Nothing is added to a picture and nothing is taken out of one, no house, no car, no sky. The last column of the table says which ones were touched, because the licences ask us to say.
Photographs are decoration on this site. The numbers do the work, and every number has its own source on the page where it appears.
